[AIMSA "Unity in Diversity"] Re: Nepal: Reservation should be based on the Family Economic Condition

Dear Ajay ji,

You are right when u say that main objective is the unity of madhesis.
And also, we should keep in mind that the quotas and etc are the tools
devised to 'distinguish' (and thus create a wall) one from the other.
Therefore, quota to some group of madhesis would certainly succeed in
creating rifts in the society. And such untimely demands of OBCs are
no doubt the efforts by such elements who would not buy the idea of a
strong madhes.

And I think, the views about special rights (like positive
discrimination by virtue of economic condition) should come only after
equal rights is acknowledged. The first step is to bring the total
marginalized madhesis to even ground. After that, we create provisions
for positive discrimination. Otherwise, if we loose our patience and
start talking about quotas for certain groups within madhes (even
based on economic condition), it will affect adversely to whatever
spirit left over present in madhes.

Remember, that Arjun only looked at one target/objective while aiming
for the fish eye...

Best regards,

Bal Krishna
