You would be aware that Kolkata was at the forefront of the Maithili language movement that eventually resulted in the inclusion of Maithili in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution as a National language in December 2003.
Mithila Darshan, a quarterly magazine first published from Kolkata in 1953, had played a vital role in informing and creating a mass base to supplement the untiring efforts of the doyens of the language movement in Kolkata.
On this auspicious occasion of Akshaya Trittiya, we have the pleasure of announcing the re-launch of Mithila Darshan in a new avtaar. Desgined to international standards, Mithila Darshan will cater to the long felt need for a complete magazine for the family in our own mother tongue, Maithili. The magazine has been printed entirely in colour and has been priced at Rs. 30/- per issue. Mithila Darshan will be published to coincide with auspicious dates in the Mithila calendar. with the next issue being planned for 'Bat Savitri Poornima' (July 5, 2009).
